Designed around the core mechanics of Mantic’s Deadzone game, this is not just a reskin of an existing game system. With powerful pickup weapons, energy shields, and even respawns – this really feels like an accurate representation of the classic HALO Xbox games.
There are two versions of the game available at this point: the full Spartan edition offers awesome value at £100, you get a lot for your money. The Recon edition still packs a punch, with eight Spartan models, a play mat, weapon, character, and reference cards, plenty of dice, tokens and easily buildable terrain for only £60!
Also available on release date is a specially produced paint kit which includes a Master Chief figure, eight custom made Army Painter Fanatic Warpaints, a brush, and the game cards so you can paint him up and have him lead your Spartans into battle!
Add to that dice booster packs, and some deluxe plastic terrain kits, and you have all you need to get started and beyond.
We will have Mantic representatives on hand throughout the day who are just itching to share the full experience with you all – we’ve had a demo copy of the recon edition in the shop for a few weeks now, and it’s been great watching people give it a go, but our resident Mantic guys are currently hard at work preparing their full Spartan editions to teach you how to play with the extra Banished Elite models and 16 Spartans!
The game is very easy to learn, and replicates the fast-paced nature of HALO multiplayer, with both players being engaged at every point during gameplay.
Apart from being easy to learn, the whole package has been designed to go from fully boxed, to ready to play in just a few minutes.
The minifigures don’t require any assembly, they have also very thoughtfully produced the Spartans in red and blue plastic (Banished Elites are grey) so you don’t even have to paint them if that’s not your thing – classic HALO team red vs team blue all the way!
The included scenery is produced from prepainted card and just slots together. Again, no glue required, and you can easily disassemble it after play and pop it back in the box.
